Position: Volunteer Museum Assistant
Location: Foxton Canal Museum
Reports to: Museum Curator 

 

What You’ll Be Doing:
As a Volunteer Museum Assistant, you’ll be helping out with a variety of tasks that make the museum run smoothly. You’ll have the chance to work closely with visitors, share stories about the museum, and support exciting events and activities!

 

What You’ll Help With:

• Welcoming Visitors: Greet visitors, answer questions, and share interesting facts about the museum and its exhibits.

• Exhibit Support: Help set up and tidy up exhibits to make sure everything looks great and visitors can easily explore.

• Tour Guiding: Lead small groups on tours, helping them learn more about the museum’s history and exhibits.

• Event Assistance: Lend a hand with fun workshops, events, and exhibitions, whether it’s preparing materials or helping guests participate.

• Museum Shop Support: Assist in the shop with sales, restocking, and keeping things organized.

 

What We’re Looking For:

• A keen interest in history, museums, or working with the public.

• Friendly and approachable with good communication skills.

• Happy to work both with a team and on your own.

• Organized, reliable, and eager to get involved.

• Willing to learn and share your knowledge with others.

 

Time Commitment:
We’re flexible with hours! We’d love you to commit to at least one shift a week (11am - 1.30pm or 1.30pm - 4pm, Saturday - Wednesday) , but we’re happy to work with your schedule.

Requirements:

• Driving license

• References needed

• Over 18+ years old
